In The Fallout Of Great Balls Of Fire, It Appears Maybe Roman Reigns Is Not A Heel?

Hey y’all! I said y’all because RAW was in Houston this week! After Great Balls of Fire on Sunday, I was very optimistic that we’d see a great heel justification of Roman’s attempted murder on Braun, maybe Enzo saying he’s not giving up, and a new direction for Finn Bálor. We didn’t get any of those things. I was upset. We’ll make it through, though.

Alright, after much contemplation, I decided I don’t like Cass’ theme. I do kinda dig him in this heel role, however. He’s garnering NUCLEAR heat from the crowd. It’s the perfect opportunity for a red hot babyface to interrupt him. A red hot babyface like…oh fuck. The Big Show. I don’t hate him, I don’t even dislike him really, but why are we doing this? For the rights to the word “Big”? Ugh. Hopefully this is just a detour before Cass vs Enzo II at Summerslam.

I will say he was pretty fuckin’ over.

Speaking of over, how about the most over babyface on the entire roster?! The guy who everyone loves like they’re meant to! Finn Bálor! Oh he’s doing another squash match. The man is in a squash feud. He just squashes the same guy over and over. Who is this helping in any way, shape, or form?

Got some HEAVY teases of the BROKEN gimmick in this promo. Actually popped me huge.

The Club beat the Hardy Boyz, which was huge for them obviously, as it may have been the first match they’ve ever won, and the Revival returned to in ring action afterwards when they beat the shit out of Matt and Jeff. I’m not really complaining about the Club’s booking, by the way, even though everyone else is. They were pretty much booked the exact same in NJPW. Jeff’s Shatter Machine sell was amazing, as expected. It’s basically the move he was born to take.

I wish this feud would end. It was fun for a while, but I’m about done with it now. Change it up, throw Bálor in the IC Title mix. Is it below the Universal? Yeah. But it’s better than what he has now.

I felt like this feud had so much promise when it first began, and the vignettes, while awesome, ran too long and lost the crowd’s interest. I think Goldust probably should have ran over R-Truth right away and moved onto something bigger and better.

This segment was the highlight of the show. It was the only thing that really stood out as amazing the whole night. Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, and Kurt Angle were in the ring discussing Universal Championship plans for Summerslam, and Roman Reigns interrupted, immediately taking shots at everyone like he was a young Bob on the prowl. Brock told him he didn’t deserve shit (seriously, he said “You don’t deserve shit”) and Joe came out to chirp them both. This seems to be building to the match I discussed yesterday, Lesnar vs Reigns vs Joe vs Strowman at Summerslam.

Bray Wyatt defeated Seth Rollins in their Great Balls of Fire “rematch” (although there’s been a ton of matches between the two) and it was okay, but the only part worth watching is the finish…because Rollins spiked the fuck out of himself on it.

Unfortunately they didn’t follow up the show of the year well, but you can’t win ‘em all. Sometimes you need this shitty RAW to balance out the great PPV.
